What Is Son?
A son is a warm spot in your heart and a
smile on your lips.
In the beginning he is charmingly innocent,
putting his complete trust in you.
He comes to you for a hand to hold, and for
the security only your arms can provide.
He shares his tales of adventure, and
knows how proud you are of his discoveries
and accomplishments.
All his problems can be solved by a hug and
a kiss from you, and the bond you share is
so strong it is almost tangible...
Time passes, and your innocent little boy
starts to test his limits. He lets go of your
hand to race into the midst of life without
thinking ahead or looking both ways.
His problems have grown along with him,
and he has learned that you can’t always
make his life better or kiss his troubles away.
He spends much of his time away from you,
and though you long for the closeness you
once shared, he chooses independence and
privacy.
Discoveries and accomplishments aren’t as
easy to come by now, and sometimes he
wonders about his worth.
But you know the worth of that young man.
He is your past and your future. He is hopes
and dreams that have made it through each
and every disappointment and failure.
In your heart, your son is precious and
treasured. Together, you struggled through
the years trying to find the right amount of
independence for each new stage of his life,
until finally, you had to learn to let him go.
Now you put your trust in him, leaving that
son, whom you hold so dear, totally in his own
care. You hope he always remembers that you
have a hand for him to hold, and arms to
provide comfort or support.
Most of all, you hope that he believes in
himself as much as you believe in him, and
that he knows how much you love him.
What is Wife?
A wife is someone more special than words.
She's love mixed with friendship, and marriage
bonded with hope, thanks, and joy. A wife is
beauty and lasting togetherness, and there
is no one more precious in the world.
A wife is one who inspires some of the most
special moments two people have ever shared.
A wife is a treasured perspective on the past,
a reassuring part of the present, and a million
wishes for all the days that lie ahead.
A wife is a reminder of the blessings that come
from closeness. Sharing everything. Disclosing
dreams. Learning about life together. She's a
hand within your hand. She's so often the only
one who understands. A wife is understanding
and trust enfolded with love. She is a helper and
a guide, and she is a feeling, deep inside, that
makes you realize, each and every day of your life
... that there is no one who could ever be loved
in the way a husband... loves his wife.
My Wonderful Husband
There are some things that can only be
understood between the two of us. There
are words that only we can say, smiles
that only we can inspire, and dreams
that can only be shared between two
people who care... the way we do.
You're a wonderful husband, and I want
you to know how much I appreciate you!
What we share is so essential to everything
that makes my world work out the way
I want it to. We share something that is
stronger than any storm, that is beautiful
and caring and warm, that is supportive
and trusting and sweet.
Our marriage and our precious love is
something our hearts and our happiness
will always treasure and keep. I love you!
Communication
Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.
When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.
The problem with communication…is the illusion that it has been accomplished.
It is very hard to say the exact truth, even about your own immediate feelings – much harder than to say something fine about them which is not the exact truth.
There is more than a verbal tie between words and communication.... Try the experiment of communicating, with fullness and accuracy, especially if it be somewhat complicated, and you will find your own attitude toward your experience changing.
The more elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate.
Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.
Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.
The Road Taken

REMEMBER HAPPINESS doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think. So start each day by thinking of all the things you have to be thankful for. Your future will depend very largely on the thoughts you think today. So think thoughts of hope and confidence and love and success.
The Ten Things in Life you Control
There are just a few aspects of life that we can truly control, and it's
useful to know just what those areas are. If you don't know, you'll spend a
lot of time blaming others for your own failings. Try and exert too much
control in areas you shouldn't and the universe will create some interesting
ways to remind of your place. So be prepared to learn the 10 things in life
that you DO control:
1. What you do. Your actions are yours alone. You choose to make them or not
make them and you are responsible for the effects of those actions.
2. What you say. Likewise, the words you speak (or write) are also
consciously chosen. Like actions, they have an impact on your life and the
lives of those you contact.
3. What you think. Yes, there are some subconscious thoughts that you can't
control. But the things that you really think about, your beliefs, your
ideals, etc. are concepts you have chosen to accept and believe in.
4. Your work. Many people like to overlook this one, it being much easier to
say "Oh, I'm trapped in my job because I don't have a degree, experience,
etc." Hogwash! That's simple a way of denying one's responsibility in having
chosen the job in the first place. It's your job and you chose it. If you
stay (or go), that's a choice as well.
5. The people you associate with. There's a famous t-shirt that states:
"It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys."
Colloquial is very often correct! Your friends can either lift you up or
bring you down. You make the decision which type of friends you wish to
have.
6. Your basic physical health. Much about our health is a factor of
genetics, environment, and exposure. Much more of our health is simply a
matter of the things we choose: diet, exercise, drugs, sleep, routine
physicals, check-ups, etc.
7. The environment you live in. Your house, the condition of your home, the
town you live in, the amenities available to you are all things you can
control, although some to a lesser degree (i.e., you decide to tolerate them
or move someplace else).
8. Your fiscal situation. Having or not having enough money is a factor of
what you make versus what you spend.
9. Your time. You choose how to "spend" your time and how much of your time
to give to various activities. You'll never get more time than the 24 hours
your given each day.
10. Your legacy. All your actions, words, and knowledge that you share while
you are living become the gift that you leave when you are gone.
Life is too short!
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the
express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered:
"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
